Markus Akira Peters (b. 1970, New York City) is a photographer based in New York.
His work develops through a set of ongoing series that consider shared space, human relationships, and the conditions of seeing. The projects remain open, growing as new images are made and existing sequences are reworked.
He studied visual arts and sociology at Colgate University, continued his education in filmmaking at New York University, and later built a career in documentary film, collaborating with filmmakers/journalists Albert Maysles, Hava Kohav Beller, Nina Rosenblum and Robert Frye, among others.
He hopes you revisit this site for new and updated work.
